Night Porter - Part Time

We are looking for a night porter for two nights per week to ensure that all late-coming guests receive a warm, memorable and personalised welcome.  You will be setting the scene for their stay and ensuring that guest needs are anticipated and that any requests are actioned. You will be responsible for the security of the Inn and its guests overnight.

Your duties will include -

  • Security of building & guests
  • Setting up restaurant for breakfast
  • On occasion serving drinks from the bar
  • Taking telephone calls and bookings

You must be customer service focused and have a mature attitude, as well as being honest, trustworthy and dependable. Previous experience of working either as a security officer or within the police force an advantage. We are looking for someone who is able to work from 11pm until 6am approx, including weekends.

Apprentice Commis Chef

























Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 of 7 days with a mixture of split shifts and straight shifts.
Duration: 13 months
Wage: £170-200 per week

Brief overview
As a commis chef, you’re on the first rung of the ladder to becoming a great chef. You’ll do food preparation work including butchery and basic cooking under supervision. You’ll have high standards in relation to health and safety and food safety legislation, have a keen eye for attention to detail and quality and a desire to present amazing food!

Vacancy description

  • Assist and monitor food stocks and stock movement

  • ensure minimum kitchen wastage

  • learn and record skills and recipes from other members of the department

  • follow the cleaning schedules for the kitchen and clean the section and other areas as directed

  • ensure stock is controlled and rotated

  • accept and store delivered

  • report any maintenance issues to the Head Chef immediately

  • comply with all policies and procedures to ensure that all statutory regulations are observed

  • comply with the conditions of food hygiene policies

  • be flexible and willing to help other departments at busy times, if required.

Personal qualities
Good personal hygiene, pride in your appearance, punctuality, self-motivation and reliability.

Qualifications required
GCSE English, maths an advantage.

Future prospects
There is plenty of scope within the company for promotion after the apprenticeship, going all the way to the top if the hunger and desire to succeed are there. Annual pay reviews will be carried out in accordance with your performance.
